Creating a Life I Don't Want to Escape From

Growing up, I would start spending less time with my toys and more time focusing on my future. I would spend hours every day researching and creating a future life for myself that I know I would love. I would research jobs I might want, cities I would want to live in, and houses and apartments. All I could think about was going far away and being on my own. However, it's been many years since, and my thoughts and preferences have changed. So, now I will talk about why it is so important to live a life you love and how I am trying to do that for myself.

I have recently started college, which means I need to start focusing on my future more than ever. If you've looked at my website you'll notice how much I love writing and would love a job in that field; I am majoring in writing, so it works out. Even though I'm not 100% sure what kind of job I want, I know I'll find one I love because something I think about a lot is that you only have one life, so why spend it trying to escape from it? Obtaining my dream job is one of my top priorities when it comes to achieving my dream life. I have researched so many jobs, and just when I think I've found the one, I find myself researching yet again. The next top priority of mine is where I live. My boyfriend and I have discussed this a few times, and as of right now, our place to go is Tennessee; there are a lot of personal reasons behind it. However, all I'm trying to say is stop trying to run away from life, make it something where you never want the day to end.
Getting to the more logical point of this, escaping your life will never truly fix anything. It will never let you opt out of responsibilities, you won't get rid of dissatisfaction, it will only delay skill development, and eventually, it will wear off. You need to create, not escape. When you create, you can adjust the life you're building, and when you build, you strengthen yourself. Time stays the same whether you escape or create, so it's better to start sooner rather than later. Another thing I like to tell myself to stay motivated and disciplined is that you have to be uncomfortable to be comfortable. No matter what, it's on you. You cannot rely on anyone to build your life for you.
