My Life as a Freshman Double Major

I've been planning out my life since I could walk; my future was always something that I wanted to be perfect. I went through the phase of wanting to be everything: an architect, ophthalmologist, model, aquarist (etc.) - things in every field. As I got closer to college I NEEDED to make a decision, and because I am an indecisive person I chose to double major.
Something I have always wanted to do was to be my own boss, and that is why I chose Business Admin for one of my majors, more specifically entrepreneurship. I thought if I could own a business I wouldn't have to be so afraid of messing up and trying to be perfect. I've had some bad experience in past jobs with complaints, working alone during rush hour, and accidently letting customer get stuff for free. After any sort of mistake I would start panicking, I thought for sure I would get fired. Ever since these problems I knew I needed to be the boss, I knew I needed to have my own business; the stress and anxiety alone was not good for me.

My second major is English, more specifically writing - and this is my top focus. I found my love for writing a few years ago and ever since then I wanted to write everything: novels, short stories, magazine articles, blogs, or just answer some journal prompts. I would write whenever I could, so much that it started to become an issue. I would write during class rather than pay attention and during study hours rather than do homework, but because of that is when I knew that I needed to write for a living. After this realization I did a ton of research about the specific writer I want to be. I looked at copywriting, technical writing, blogging. freelancing (etc.). As you can see here, I chose blogging but as I continue my college journey I want to become a freelancer as well.
Because I chose to double major I wanted to try to incorporate both into my future career, which is what led me to freelancing. Freelancing not only allows me to be my own boss but let's me work from anywhere. As I started figuring myself out I realized that I needed a job that allowed me to work from home or a coffee shop or anywhere but the work building.

Since I am a freshman I am mainly taking gen-ed classes this semester and not so much classes for my majors. However I am still taking 19 credits, which is a lot, and it gets pretty overwhelming when I also need time to go to the gym and go to work. We choose classes for the next semester in November and now that I have a feel for it I know exactly how I want my schedule to look, all I need to do now is look at what classes I want to take. Furthermore, since I am focusing more on English and writing I will be looking at classes for writing more than business.
Overall, my life as a freshman double majoring is definitely overwhelming at times but as long as you spend your time wisely and are enjoying what you're doing, it should be a breeze. I hope you enjoyed this insight piece of my college life, thank you for reading!
