Ways To Get Yourself To Write Everyday

Writing every day can be very difficult. Some days you have a million different ideas of things to write, other days the thought of writing the date on a paper annoys you. This is known as writer's block. If you are a perfectionist, then you have most likely experienced writer's block. You might be someone who wants your first draft of something to be THE final draft, with no editing afterwards...not possible. Therefore, below are steps to help you write every day.

Environment:
Personally, my environment is one of the biggest factors in my writing. If you are anything like me and love aesthetics, then know yours. Find the colors that fit your vibe, figure out your favorite weather, design your computer and workspace to something that feels you (etc.) You get where I am going with this. Having an aesthetically pleasing environment can make you 10x more productive. Some examples of common writing workspaces are a coffee shop, a library, or a desk at home or in an office.
Depending on where you go, there could be a ton of people or none at all. People are another factor in your environment. Whether you're writing or not, who you surround yourself with is super important. You want to be around people who make you happy, people who let you be yourself. So, when it comes to writing, it might help to have people around who support you and would help you write, or if you are someone who prefers peace and quiet, maybe having nobody around is better.
Diet:
What you eat can and will make you more productive. Eating healthy, nutritional foods will give you the energy and clear mindset you need to be able to write. Writing and creativity use a lot of brain power, so giving your body the correct nutrients it needs is already putting you on the right path.
Whether you work from home or in a company office, make sure you bring healthy food options for lunch and to snack on. When I write throughout the day, I always have some small snack or a drink with me, usually an energy drink. I find that it keeps me focused on my work more than on what I can eat next because I don't know about you, but when I'm bored, all I want to do is eat. Some examples of healthy snack and drink options are fruit, like a little bowl of grapes or strawberries, coffee, tea, or even a salad.
Activity:
Something I've noticed is that you always, always, always want to do something physical before working. This means anything really: go for a walk, workout, or do some yoga. However, if you are someone who works early, then just try to get up even 10 minutes earlier than usual, just to do some stretching, but make sure you get a little more in later in the day. I know it might be a lot easier said than done, but believe me when I say working out before your day begins makes you feel 10x better about yourself, and I know because I've compared times I workout in the morning to when I worked out in the evening...huge difference.
Don't forget the simple things too, like making your bed or having your lunch packed the night before, and an outfit already laid out. Little things like these are what are really going to give you that kickstart to your morning mood and productivity.
Sleep:
Now this is the MOST IMPORTANT of them all. You're entire body needs sleep to function. Without sleep, you are going to find it a lot harder to accomplish any of the steps above. Yes, your diet and activity keep you healthy and energized, but if you don't get good sleep, then all of that goes down the drain.

Overall, many things can help you write, but there are also things you do that make you less inclined to write, and you often don't realize it. So after reading through this, feel free to take notes and start incorporating these steps into your daily routine. Just one thing at a time is what might help you the best, as trying to do more might give you the opposite effect and make you want to give up right away. As always, if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to reach out! Thank you!
