Why It's Important to Live Slowly in a Fast World

This world has been speeding up year by year. The pressure to keep up has been getting harder. Our days are full of deadlines, photoshopped posts, and social pressures. I don't know about you guys, but I find this all very draining and tiring. This is why it is important to practice slow living, live on your own time, and in your own way.

We live in an extremely busy world full of inaccurate thoughts and unhealthy activities. People have begun to praise overworking while considering rest as lazy. They think we need to do something productive every single day, and even though that will make you feel better, it will also drain you. But that's where you get stuck in a loop, because once you decide to rest from all that work, you've turned lazy. Success has become measured by how packed someone's schedule is and how high their salary is. Unfortunately, you need a high salary in the present day to survive comfortably. Yes, everyone says you should obtain a job you enjoy, but if you do, depending on the job, you most likely won't be able to live comfortably. Thinking about all of this as a college student scares me. I got the image put in my head that if I become anything other than a doctor or lawyer, I won't have a "happy" or "sustainable" life. It's like people don't feel valued unless they have a life like this.
I will proudly say that social media is the biggest reason behind this. People began posting their achievements, photoshopping pictures, and just saying rude, unnecessary comments to other people. And when something randomly starts trending, you're "weird" if you don't participate in it or understand it. It gives you the illusion that everyone is ahead of you and you're falling behind, even though you're on your own path.
It seems like our mental and emotional health has been getting cared for less and less, even by ourselves. Stress becomes normal instead of temporary. It's wrong to rest your brain, I mean, we even feel guilty ourselves for taking a break sometimes. Another thing that sucks is that we start to feel less excited about achievements. We stopped reflecting on our feelings and figuring out what we actually want, instead we just operate on autopilot.
So, moral of the story: Live slow in a fast world. <3
